mraav is a cat sitting marketplace based in San Francisco, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our platform. For questions, contact us at hello@mraav.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you register
- Profile information: photos, bio, neighborhood, availability, and service details (Sitters); cat names, breeds, and care notes (Owners)
- Booking information: dates, services requested, and messages exchanged between users
- Reviews: written reviews and ratings you submit
We also collect information automatically:
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and timestamps
- Device data: browser type, operating system, and IP address
- Cookies: see Section 7 for the short list of cookies we set
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the platform and facilitate bookings between Owners and Sitters
- To authenticate your account and keep it secure
- To send booking confirmations, messages, and service-related notifications
- To display your public profile to other users (Sitters only, as configured by you)
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymized usage analysis
- To respond to your support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. Information Shared With Others
When you make or accept a booking, certain profile information is shared between the Owner and Sitter to facilitate the service (e.g., name, contact details, cat care notes).
We share data with third-party service providers that help us operate the platform:
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting
- Vercel — application hosting
These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes. We do not share your data with any other third parties except as required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
6. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@mraav.com.
7. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to operate the platform. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, cross-site tracking, or analytics about your behavior on other websites.
- Authentication session (set by Supabase, our auth provider): keeps you signed in between visits and is required for the platform to work.
- Active role: remembers whether you are currently using mraav as a cat parent or as a sitter, when your account is configured for both.
- Admin session: present only on internal admin pages and only for our team.
Because all of these are strictly necessary for the service you have requested, no consent banner is shown. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, but doing so will sign you out and may break basic features.
If we add optional cookies in the future (for example, product analytics or A/B testing), we will update this section and ask for your consent before they are set.
8. Your Rights (California Residents)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions)
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights

9. Minors' Privacy
mraav is intended for users who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe a minor has used mraav can email hello@mraav.com to request deletion.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via a notice on the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
