1. Apply
Tell us about your cat experience, why you want to sit, and provide two references we can call. The form takes about ten minutes. We read every application ourselves.
For sitters
Applications are open in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here is how the process works, what sitting on mraav is like, and why the first 50 sitters get something the rest never will.

The Day-One cohort
There is no separate application and no separate track. Apply like every sitter, clear the same checks, and if a spot is open when you go live, every perk below is yours, and the badge stays for good.
Your profile carries a Day-One Sitter badge for good. It tells cat parents you were one of the first, vetted and trusted before the rush, which is exactly who they want holding their keys.
Cat parents new to mraav get 20% off their first booking, and that discount comes out of mraav’s pocket, not your rate. You keep every dollar you list; the lower price just helps you win those first bookings while the network is small.
Like every mraav sitter, our fee comes out of the price parents see, never your pocket. Parents pay through Stripe at booking, and your earnings are released to you about 24 hours after the booking ends.
Every sitter clears a third-party background check, normally a one-time $29.99 fee. For the first 50, it is on us. One less cost between you and your first booking.
The process
Every sitter on mraav clears the same path. No exceptions, no shortcuts.
Tell us about your cat experience, why you want to sit, and provide two references we can call. The form takes about ten minutes. We read every application ourselves.
If your application looks like a fit, we set up a video call with our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. Cat-specific questions, a few scenarios, and your chance to ask anything about how the platform works. It is a two-way fit check.
After the interview, we run a government-ID check and a third-party background check, and we call your references. The background check is a one-time $29.99 fee you cover, though it is on us for the first 50 Day-One Sitters. Standard for the industry, non-negotiable for us.
Clear the checks and you create your account, build your profile (rates, service area, availability), and go live. From that moment cat parents in your zip codes can book you, and if a Day-One spot is open, the Day-One badge is yours automatically.
Once you are live
You set your own rates, service area, schedule, and cancellation policy. mraav is a marketplace, not a manager.
