How to delete your account, what happens to your information, and what to do if you cannot sign in.
Delete it yourself
You can do this at any time, and you do not need to ask us.
- In the mraav app (iPhone or Android): open the Profile tab, tap Settings, then Delete account.
- On the web: sign in, then go to app.mraav.com/account/delete. It is also linked from Account settings, under Danger zone.
You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It happens straight away and it cannot be undone.
Deleting some of your data without closing your account
You do not have to delete the whole account to get rid of something.
- In the app or on the web, you can remove a cat profile, a cat's photos, your own photo, your address and home notes, and, if you sit, your gallery photos and bio. Gone as soon as you save.
- For anything else, email hello@mraav.com from the address on the account and say what you want removed. We will confirm we received it within 10 business days and answer within 45, the same as any privacy request. Bookings, messages, reviews and payment records stay, for the reasons below.
What gets removed
- Your name, photo, phone number, address, and any home notes.
- Your emergency contact and local contact.
- Your cat profiles, emptied out: breed, age, photos, feeding instructions, medications, medical conditions, vet contact, allergies, and every other detail you filled in.
- Your saved payment details, and your vet release if you signed one.
- Your favorites and your notifications.
- If you sit: your listing comes down and stops appearing in search, along with your bio, gallery, service area, schedule, and your contact and emergency contact details.
- Your login is disabled permanently, and your email address is freed up in case you ever want to start fresh.
What we keep, and why
Deleting your account does not erase every trace of it, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
Bookings, messages, reviews and payment records stay. Two reasons. A sit involves someone else, and their own history, their reviews and their record of a visit that really happened, belongs to them as much as to you. And we are required to keep booking and payment records for tax and accounting.
What stays is detached from you. Wherever your name would have appeared, the other person sees Deleted account, with no photo and no way to contact you.
The full picture is in Section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
When we cannot delete it yet
Deletion is blocked while something is still open, so that nobody is left stranded mid-sit or out of pocket. That means:
- an upcoming or in-progress booking, as either the cat parent or the sitter,
- sitter earnings still being held, which release once the sits they belong to finish,
- a payout balance you have not cashed out yet.
If one of these applies, the app will tell you which. Resolve it, then delete the account.
If you cannot sign in
Email hello@mraav.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm it is really you before we do anything, and you will hear back from a person within one business day.
If you would rather ask a question first, our support page reaches the same people.
